Bookish is perfectly situated in easy reach of some fabulous walks in the beautiful Brecon Beacons. We thought it would a good idea to combine our love of both wonderful literature and wonderful scenery with our new walking bookclub.
On our first outing we’ll be discussing Addlands by Tom Bullough.
Addlands spans 70 years on a remote hill farm in the lost Welsh county of Radnorshire, Addlands is a quiet rural novel of enormous power. Very little happens bar births, deaths and the slow accumulation of scars and experience — life, then, as it happens to all of us — but told from a perspective that’s hard to acquire when we consider our own messy, close-up histories. The result is a haunting study of change and continuity. (Financial Times)
Meeting at 11am at Bookish, the walk will take us up through Llangattock via road, fields and lanes and onto the Brecon Monmouthshire Canal. we’ll then go back to Bookish for a light lunch and further discussion. The walk will take approximately 2 hours being 6.5km with some incline. We advise that suitable footwear and weather suitable clothing is worn. All participants walk at their own risk
