…what exercise is to the body.
May is National Mental Health Awareness month in several countries across the world, and May 9th-15th is Mental Health Awareness Week in the United Kingdom. This month we have curated a selection of books that dicuss or soothe various topics under the broad umbrella term of ‘mental health’.
“Just because you don’t understand it doesn’t mean it isn’t so.” – Lemony Snicket
One of the best ways to learn more about a topic we feel we don’t fully understand is by reading an account of someone who has lived, experienced, and is willing to speak about said topic. Luckily, with mental health, there are many incredible stories (both fiction and nonfiction) that so beautifully explain things to us so we can learn to empathise with others or gain understanding about what might be happening in our own bodies and minds.

PUBLISHER OF THE MONTH
Rily Publications is a privately owned, family-run publishing house, created when husband and wife team Richard and Lynda Tunnicliffe started publishing Welsh language versions of popular books as a hobby in 2001. Since then they have steadily grown their range of Welsh children’s titles.
“We are Welsh language learners, based in South Wales. We are advocates of bilingual children’s books as it helps us read to our children in Welsh and also follow the storyline at the same time. We are constantly updating our range of books and love to hear feedback from our readers.”
Follow us on Instagram to see posts about their books throughout May.
