You might have seen the abbreviation ‘TBR’ thrown around in the book world a few times, but if you are a TBR newbie – welcome!
We are excited to be sharing the Book-ish team ‘To Be Read’ list with you this month and hopefully inspire you to create (or add to) your own.
We just can’t quite keep up with all of the intriguing new titles coming out so we have curated the ultimate Book-ish team TBR. This list includes choices from each member of the team and spans every genre you can think of. Browse through and remember you can use our wishlist function to start your own TBR!
“Too many books? I think what you mean is not enough bookshelves.”
Book-ish TBR
Mrs. Book-ish
Emma’s top three are The Last Party by Clare Mackintosh, Shrines of Gaiety by Kate Atkinson and Daisy Darker by Alice Feeney. All three are HIGHLY anticipated pre-orders which we have available to purchase now in order to receive on the publication dates.
Echo
As in normal fashion, my top TBR reads are across the nonfiction realm. Train Lord is a new true account of what happens when your sense of self is suddenly destroyed.
Being a long time fan of anything written by Robin Ince, Bibilomaniac naturally glides to the top of my TBR.
Books About Books
Jon
Their top is Unraveller. They’ve been sleeping on Francis Hardinge, despite her writing being exactly the sort of concept-heavy classic teen adventure fiction they grew up on and still love as downtime reading. Next, they want to read Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow, a love story about imaginary worlds and the people who get rich making them – it’s supposed to be sassy, smart and awkwardly eloquent. They say buy it now, read it, and convince them to do likewise!
Loren
Loren is clearly looking ahead as all her picks are pre-orders, some even into 2023. But after reading about her choices you will also want to pop them into your basket and be the first to receive a copy!
Megan
The Love Songs of W.E.B. Du Bois by HonorĂ©e Fanonne Jeffers is top of Megan’s TBR because it looks great and it’s a big ol’ chunky one. The Secret History by Donna Tartt because the 25th-anniversary edition is out this year AND Jon once told her she dressed like someone who would have a lot of opinions about it.
Meg
One of Meg’s top is a cookbook called Mezcla which has food inspired by Italy, Brazil, Mexico and beyond. Another is a recent release, The Crane Wife, which is a collection of essays that has been said to be “rehab for road-weary romantics”.
Publisher of the Month
Our publisher of the month is Rough Trade Books. Rough Trade is a publishing house brought to you by the minds behind Rough Trade Records. It is a new publishing venture in the mould of the pioneering independent record label. Bringing the same original spirit and radical direction to the world of book publishing…
